ADHD and Co-morbid Conditions

Comorbid conditions associated with ADHD.

ADHD doesn't cause any other disorder or condition, but generally may presents itself in ADHDers. The most frequent ones are:

  • Learning disabilities:
One often find "spoonerism", stuttering, lisping and other speech and language deficiencies with ADHDers. Coupled with impulsivity, they often say everything they know in as short a period as possible. In written communication, ADHDers often have difficulty putting their comorbidityideas on paper in a logical way because written language requires more cohesion and cognitive skills than speech where our body language participates in the communication.

  • Substance abuse:
Substance abuse doesn't cause ADHD and everybody that abuses isn't ADHD, BUT, it's know that ADHDers have a tendency to substance abuse.
  • Emotional Disorders, Mood disorder etc.
  • Conduct Disorder:
This disorder often causes ADHDers to end up living a very destructive life, stealing, cheating and violating other people's rights.
  • Depression and Bipolar Disorder.
  • Tourette's Syndrome
  • Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD):
These people tend to be against everything, especially the establishment, often just because! Again, this can be advantageous for any society, but it also can result in a very destructive lifestyle. The style of parenting will greatly influence the outcome of this disorder in adulthood.
